Re: 1951 GMC 3 window half ton

looks great. nice to see guys that try to do all their own work.
as a side note for future paintng, if you mask openings with paper products like cardboard try to get the waxed stuff instead of the raw finished stuff, the raw finish or newspaper style paper will offgas paper "hairs" that tend to stick to the paint. you can use the raw cardboard for strength but then cover it with painters masking paper if you want and that will give a rigid backer. some guys use plastic but you gotta be careful removing it too early as the paint will peel off the plastic and stick to the new paint.
anyway, looks good and seemed to work out for you.
post up a few pics of it in the driveway if you can.

have you got the 427 tall deck or the 427 short deck height engine there? they made 2 different varieties, one was for trucks with a 366 as a little brother.

Re: 1951 GMC 3 window half ton

Thanks for the kind words. Here's a couple pic's I took before I covered it up.
I took the wife and some grand kids for a spin. The truck rips along pert good.
I'm glad I spent the extra time and money on the Scott's Hotrod front and rear suspension. Handles and rides exceptional. The 427 came out of a dump truck from about 76 and is a tall deck. Story was it was a small excavator had several of these trucks and switched out the motor, then, replaced the head gskt. Should be OK. I've been told you can get some big horse power with some modifications. The last pic is of a friends 52 chevy. He's having trouble finishing it, pushing 80 years old. This will probly be my next project.
Thanks for looking.
