94 6.5 4x4 extended cab dually

I am going to look at one today For $2500. It has a plow and seems to be in decent shapewith@ 150k miles. The only issue is some road rash and a tranny leak. I know absouletly nothing about these trucks and even less about diesels. What should I look for and be careful about? thanx scott

Go to dieselplace.com and read through the FAQs in the 6.5 section.

There is too much information for me to hammer it all out here in one post for you.....judging by the time, you have already looked at the truck.

OK, went to look today. its actually a 93 with a motor that was replaced in 96. Everything looked good except it was lightly but steadily blowing smoke when I pulled dipstick,is this blow-by? The truck has been sitting @1year.Tranny leak was a small steady drip from a vacuum looking like hose that went to somewhere on top of tranny, would this be a vent of somekind? Anyway I ad to pass for now because the guy buying my truck backed out. oh well.
