Re: should we have a sub group here

A lot of us on here remember when you wanted to listen to the radio you reached over turned on the knob and that same knob you could turn it up or down for the volume. If you wanted to change the radio station you reached over to the second knob and tuned it in where you liked. Well now it takes 15 buttons to figure out the same simple 2 functions. In my opinion change is not always good. I vote NO. one less button to push.
Go ahead take a look in one section for 67-72 truck parts only 5 NOS ads up on first page as I type. they are not hard to find,so no need for a seperate section. VOTE NO

Very good reason to vote. And to state why, not to just vote NO, OR YES. Many members have there reasons why this would be good or bad. Good forum to voice them. Thanks Russ

I am still a yes as it would very much help me find parts, but I respect the members and there reasoning why they are voting no.

Am I starting to detect that you might possibly not be in favor of this type change?

Looks like it is a statistical tie split evenly but I am also guessing that less than 1% of the membership have even read this or voted. Personally, i am fine with it either way (but voted yes) and it would ultimately be up to the admins in the end. Either way I don't see a better site anywhere that is dedicated to our passion.

Thanks for all the different input guys

Re: should we have a sub group here

Look it's not about finding nos parts it's about you guys posting ad after ad for expensive nos parts. And all the high octane members posting lots and lots of parts. Some of us can't afford those.parts and have to settle for making used parts work. And finding the parts we need. For used parts as getting buried in a pile of expensive nos parts we can't afford. We have a hobby also. This board is supposed to be good for ALL the members not just high octane ones. And I see that is pretty much the only ones voting. Don't worry am not going to vote yes or no. Just realize that for the most part some of the other members can't afford that stuff either. We need used stuff for a reasonable price. Thanks for listening hope I don't "piss" anyone off. Make it a great day!!!

Furthermore just wanted to let you all know I have met and made friends with several people from this board both local and far away. We have great dealing and spend days talking about our trucks problems and advice. Thank you all for being such a great group of people. Members have shipped me some used parts I have needed for free wouldn't even let me pay them back shipping. I have shipped and traded for parts with other members with no money trading hands. That is what this board is supposed to be about and for the most part it is.

Re: should we have a sub group here

I voted no, it just seems so simple to put NOS in the title and let buyers open the post or ignore it, vs. having so many members like me monitor yet another of many subforums.

Voted NO, won't repeat so many of the reasons for NO that have already been stated and re-stated and ad-nauseum. Just don't want to see this website go the way the Chevelle website did and loose it's way.

Will continue to be a member regardless of which way it goes.

Re: should we have a sub group here

Since it's so close, how about this...
Keep it as is, but have the seller select and click an OEM, or NOS subcategory when submitting the ad(plus list it in the title). Then at the top of page one have a filter where the potential buyers choose to show OEM, NOS, or ALL. Then the page shows exactly what they selected, cutting out what they don't want to see right at the outset. I know nothing about computers, so I don't know how hard this would be to do but most search engines have a keyword filter like this.

Re: should we have a sub group here

Whats the difference if nos or something else you dont want? You scroll past that title the same way!

At yard sales I have no problem walking past the plates and clothes to see the tools.

Without overwhelming support for a subgroup, I think it is time to move on and keep things as is.

Re: should we have a sub group here

I voted yes. Mainly because I feel like the search function on this board doesn't work correctly. If I do a search for NOS, I know for sure that I am finding only a small portion of threads that contain NOS in the title and/or the post. I had a seller tell me he can't find some of his own posts when he searches by keyword. As somebody else mentioned, NOS parts are expensive. Being able to search back in history is useful for the buyer and the seller. The buyer can better price their item according to the market, and seller can be more confident in the price being asked. If the search function cannot be addressed, then I think we need a sub section. Thank you.
