Post Camper special

I was wondering how much a 1972 camper special is worth as a parts truck. This one has no motor and the box is totally shot, but it does have Seirra Grande interior with head liner, cargo light, power steering and brakes, sway bar, all the emblems and a posi rear end but it hs 8 bolt hubs. The glass is good as well as the trim aroung the windows and the doors are good. Grill is shot as well as the bumper. I just got into these trucks and need power steering and disc brakes, help. Thank you, Rob

Thanks for the advice, the guy wants $500 but I figured the most I wanted to pay was $300 for the power steering and power brakes and hopfully sell the rest of the rest of the parts like the head liner and the posi rear end. I am new to all this old truck stuff, all I know for sure is I have fallen in love with these 67-72 trucks and want a nice one real bad. ROB

Even though 5 bills is alot for a turd, look at all the parts you will use, and add them all up using junk yard prices.
I've seen disc brakes go for that much in yards...granted, these are yards i refuse to shop at, but sometimes that is the only yard that has what you need.
I would try to chew him down as far as possable at least.

Thumbs up

How popular are these trucks up there? In my neck of the woods, I'd say $300 is about right. It's alot easier to do a swap when you have both trucks to get visual references from. Not to mention all the little trinkets that you'd forget to buy from a yard. If the headliner and trim is in good shape. It'll get top dollar. Does it have AC.

These trucks are popular and there are alot around as over half the population was farms back then and they bought lots of these trucks. The only problem with that is the boxes are all beat up because they used the trucks for work (hauling rocks and stuff)but the cabs seem to be ok. ROB
