Re: Shreck's 6.0 build

Also, took the truck on a 300 mile trip this weekend. Ran perfect in any condition, and without exact math averaged about 17MPG on 87 octane +/- a .5 margin.

That number is mostly freeway I would imagine 85% to 15% local driving. I am happy, comparing to what it used before I am 5MPG positive average so far. Quite nice, and driveability is much improved. Freeway cruising is very good, cruise along with traffic with little effort and has lots of power in reserve for passing and/or just showing off

That's my experiences so far, and for those sitting on the fence please don't it's worth it.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Digging up the dead, just to say: Very nice work! If I did it, it would be just like this...

Re: Shreck's 6.0 build

Did you happen to notice how many RPMs you run at say 70 MPH.

Not much to update, still waiting on parts. I did get my power brakes hooked up via a factory fitting that goes into the rear of the truck manifold and from there it's simple routing of a 3/8 hose to the booster.

It still wants to start and run but with no fuel pressure it does very shortly but it does run. Oil is in, filter on but I cannot tell what kind of oil pressure I have without my guage hooked up but by this afternoon my Summit order should be here. It is circulating, the oil has a pink hue to it from the assy lube on the bearings.

I hope to get in everything I need by tomorrow so I can continue, I am kind of worried about the exhaust, the SS manifolds may not working referencing to USMC's build. We will see.
fu: I had a guy pay $50 to change that hose from 3/8" to 11/32" hose, because the CCP/CPP instructions called for it. 3/8" = 12/32". 1 mm
