Was finally able to get the Bed Rhino lined. Took a few days to do it but it turned out ok.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

Just got the last of the parts I was waiting for to put in wilwood 13" big brake upgrade for the front and rear on the truck. And a buddy is gonna hook me up with a 9" chrome brake booster he has and a freshly rebuilt holley 750cfm 4 barrel carb.

Didn't look like you had any rust to deal with, that always speeds things up. Bed floor looks nice.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

Yeah i got lucky with the rust. only a few spots with some surface issues. other than that its was more just getting the old paint off and the bedliner on.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

so i was finally able to find some time to install my new brakes on the truck. sadly she is still on jack stands because i haven't been able to get the parking brake adjusted so that it will engage and allow the truck to not roll away on me. unfortunately i broke my hand so getting her back on the ground will have to wait a few more weeks. here are a few pictures of the old equipment and the new equipment.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

So a few things to note on this. I used the wilwood 13" big brake kit specifically the super lite 6 in front and super lite 4 with internal parking brake for the rear. Part number140-10775-D for the front and 140-10093-D for the rear. Word of caution though on the kits. The front is designed to be used with CPP drop spindles. Sadly I didn't have these so I had to purchase them and then wait to continue my install later. Also the internal drum (parking brake) feature of the rear brakes is designed to be used with the wilwood extended brake cable kit. Part number 330-9371. I also purchased wilwood disc brake fluid and a new adjustable proportioning valve to replace the old one I had before. Over all a very easy kit to install. I did need to pull the rear axles in order to I install the rear brakes. Pretty easy to do. Just make sure you buy new diff fluid and a new gasket when you do. I was able to bleed the brakes with the help of my wife even though she was 8 months pregnant at the time. And the all work pretty well now. I haven't been able to break in the new brakes yet since the parking brake still isn't working fully. Hopefully I'll be able to do that soon once I get this broken hand out of a cast. Anyone who wants more info just ask. And I want to say thank you to the guys at CPP, AZ pro performance, and wilwood for their technical help.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

After a long break due to a broken hand and my wife giving birth to our first child, I'm actually going to be able to try and do some work on my truck tomorrow. Hopefully I can make some progress on the brakes and maybe get her back on the ground soon.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

Sadly no. I've been having a terrible time getting the parking brake setup. Saw that you were running a similar setup with the brakes. How did you run the parking brake cable on yours? Great build btw. I'm looking at doing a lot of the same to mine.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

so i finally got the old girl running and the brakes broken in and its great to be driving her again. i also found out that the trans is actually a TH350 and not a 700r4 so that was a major buzz kill. another thing on the list that keeps growing of things the previous owner neglected to mention or just lied about. and the reason i didn't know was i didn't know how to tell the difference and didn't think that it was anything but what they said it was.

Those are some nasty looking breaks. Did you get re-casted after 6 weeks? I'm thinking you might have needed surgery and external fixation or something inside to keep that lined up straight.

Re: Project: Long Time Coming

Thanks for the compliments on the truck. Vega design I'm totally down to do that. I have a neighbor with a 72 long bed that might join too. And I know there are plenty of guys local that would be up for it. Yeah mcbassin the brakes were pricy but very worth it. And wrenching with broken bones sucked.
