Re: Finally got my new Super 4x4! Photos & Questions...

Thanks Pete!

I guess 15x6 could work if I ran some 9.5 pizza cutters... I've even heard of people running 10.5's on 15x6 rims. Seems a little big to me, though. I wish Wheel Vintiques would just do a six-lug 15x8, because the original ones are priced like gold right now...

If you're ever up this way, give a PM or call. You can come check it out. I'd love to see your Super as well. I'll do the same if I'm down your way!

Re: Finally got my new Super 4x4! Photos & Questions...

Yes, a member here mounted 10.5" on the stock 6" wide wheels without issue. Was kicking myself after as I went through the effort and expense to locate 15 x 8 wheels just to run 33 x 10.5 tires.

For sure - will keep in touch and get together in 2016.

Joey, I'm glad the truck got there safe and the enclosed shipping seemed to pay off quite a bit considering the weather this year. Glad you are happy with it. If you need anything feel free to call.

Re: Finally got my new Super 4x4! Photos & Questions...

Thanks again Ray! Got it running quite a lot smoother yesterday and it does sound nice! Can't wait to get it registered tomorrow so I can actually take it for a spin. I will definitely be in touch with any questions.

Re: Finally got my new Super 4x4! Photos & Questions...

The bracket in the frame works in conjunction with the strap across the front drivers side spring perch. There was a recall in 71 because early leaf springs had a short second leaf and not the long or military wrap second spring used today. In the event a main leaf should break on the drivers side while driving the truck would automatically steer sharply due to the sudden drop, this would not be an issue on the passenger side or even in a collision. The recall also was supposed to include new longer second leaves along with the bracket and strap kit but I doubt many of those got installed. Below is a pic of a 70 K-20 I bought back in 1990, drove it 75 miles home with a broken main leaf spring on the drivers side, this truck also passed a Missouri state inspection that way. And Yes the spring is broke even in this picture.
