window regulator

Im finally going to be putting side windows in my truck and I found out that my stock regulators for a '52 will not work with one piece glass, so Im looking for some regulators from a 47-49. Does anyone make them new? or do I need to find some on ebay or swap meet?

Also, will the earlier model regulators bolt right in my older '52 doors? or some custom fab?

Basically Im trying to do the one piece conversion my '52. So any other info yall think is helpful I'd appreciate.

Thanks.

Re: window regulator

Basically 47-49? regulators are a single arm setup where the latter years are a scissor type. They do not share the same bolt pattern for mounting and so yes, some custom hole drilling is required, but the nice thing is that they are covered by the interior panel.

I'm working on adopting a set of scissor type power windows in my 47 and since I'm custom covering the entire inside door, you won't see the mounting bolts. The power windows I'm using are from a 93 Grand Cherokee and just as a point to note, the gearing on the 93 shared the same pattern as the 47... just a chuckle.

Keep in mind that you will also have to do some custom work to get the one piece glass to fit as well (if you didn't know that already). I'm in the same process, difference is that I have 47 doors that are shot and 52's in good shape, so it's a matter of busting spot welds and reinstalling the tracks in the "new" door.

Cheers,
Ted.

Re: window regulator

One piece windows use the singular arm if I remember correctly, unless they've been swapped out in the past... I just pulled apart a 52 door today and found a singular arm in it as well. There's a good chance I won't be reusing them and once I'm sure, I'll put them up for 'adoption'.

Cheers,
Ted.
