Re: Duramax guys

185,000 miles on mine. Only thing mine ever needed other than regular maint (oil changes, fuel filters) was an alternator, belt and idler pulleys and tensioner. I still running original water pump, I change coolant every 2 years.

Re: Duramax guys

At work we don't have alot of issues out of the older ones. Just make sure to get quality fuel from a reputable station. Injectors are hard to tell when they'll go out. Best way is to look at the balancing rates on a scan tool. There solid trucks and like I said we don't have many issues from them.

Re: Duramax guys

160k is barely broken in for these engines, or for a diesel in general.

Re: Duramax guys

Typically 300K is the end of the Duramax life span around here. A buddies truck just spit the crank out yesterday at 295K.

Re: Duramax guys

My 03 has 233k. The only thing I've done to it is injectors. The 05 has better injectors and much easier to change.
Great engines... I love mine

Re: Duramax guys

Father has a 05 dmax, they are a great truck. We did a few things to it that are common upgrades/preventive maintenance. We put a 06 turbo mouth piece on it, installed the pump rub kit for the transfer case replaced the stepper motors in the dash cluster and had the injector wiring harness replaced. Now the hydro boost has a leak in it but that's a easy fix. Other wise these trucks are great as long as there taken care of.

And you Know it has a Stock Tune? I would need to see the CVN (Calibration Verification Number) history on a Tech 2 to actually believe it is stock & has always been that way. What shape is the harmonic balancer in? Is this one truck your measuring stick for all Duramax engines?

"300,000 miles being the end of a Duramax life span" Is a bold statement.

Re: Duramax guys

Some make it to 300k some don't and some make it further, it all depends on how you take care of it and sometimes luck.
