Re: 1970 cst lwb project "Cheap Build"

ok my butt is dragging...but heres where I stand

the otor has been mocked up and the motor mount are in..it was close but I didn't have to tune the firewall either which was nice

the TH350 that was in the truck that I used for a guide is out!!! along with the motor..I just can't bring myself to put it back in with out cleaning up the engine bay..so after a shower I'm going to hike out to Dads to get the presure washer

the plan is to wash the hell out of everything then head out get a few cans of paint and an elbow for the heater hose some 3/16th fuel line bythe time I get home it should be dry and I can at least give it a quick sanding and a coat of paint

I'm wooped something tells me that a 9 pm bed time will be to late!!

Re: 1970 cst lwb project "Cheap Build"

Its A 500 Caddy!!!!!!!

all the stories I heard about beating the fire wall back and such where all for not ..by using the stock TH 350 to line up the caddy when I finallly got the motor in and out and replaced the TH350 with the TH 400 (longtail shaft) everything lined right up..the trans linkage and tranny lines the X memeber moved back ( I need to get a new tran mount from the Caddy) the fan is getting a 2" spacer it clears the Radiator by about 1" I even reused the stock throttle rod..the hard part is moving the Alt wiring to the otherside..

its going to be real slow the next few days (I'll keep the camera going) I'm going tp measure up the DS tomorrow try to clean up the rest of the wiring and get some trany fluid in it....also I'm going to install the fan and water pump/alt belt....then I'm going to tackle some rust isssues...I hope to have it complet by the weekend..exhaust is going to slow me down too!!!

Re: 1970 cst lwb project "Cheap Build"

Ok ITS ALL IN!! it goes for exhaust on friday al I need to do is put the trans mount in and I'll give it a yard drive!!! it has to go about 1 1/2 miles to the exhaust shop with open exhaust!!

Anyway I made up a new front driveshaft out of an old one I had laying around I'm going to have a 1 piece built....DON"T TRY THIS AT HOME

I dont think I did bad It took me 3 days for the motor swap put on a new fender paint the firewal and under carrage..not bad for a 1 man show..with help I could do i easily in 2 short days

I might give it a little love but I think I'll wait till I get the 1 piece Driveshaft before I stab at the new Wrinkle Walls!! it goes friday for the exhaust then I can tune it ?? I want to hit the car show saturday and theres atill a few loose ends like hooking up the trans switch and getting the hood on ..I also need to flush the block it seem like theres a bunch rust in the block because the water is all dis colored..I'm going to hit it with some CLR and figure out how to hook up the heater since theres no return on these motors
