paint type for heater box?

Tried to search this but no luck. What type of paint should I use on plastic heater box? The outside of it. I know they make an additive that goes in uratane paint for plastic but I hate to buy it since that box is about the only thing plastic on the whole truck. Will the paint stick and last to it since it's plastic? Maybe the additive is cheap and well worth it, I don't know.

I have not done this but I read it on the forum: use soap & water, clean with a scotch brite pad then spray with a couple of light coats of matte clear. The poster ( I can't remember who) said it was important to use light coats & allow to dry between coats.

I clean it up, and use black base coat, just wipe on a small amount with a rag. Brings up a low gloss luster, close to original look.

Just be sure it's clean, dry with a light scuff then any paint will stick.

I usually power wash them and scrub with dawn dish soap, most times the original gel coat retains its gloss. Matte clear after scuffing with a grey pad if there’s flat spots after cleaning.
