Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

He has quite the project truck going on-he opted for the single headlight relay harness, dual tank harness and diesel engine harness. I had delays getting my wife's truck back together after fixing and repainting the whole thing so that's been what's been holding me up a bit. But I'm glad that's over....I know every square inch of that Yukon now!!!

Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

Having done a lot of wiring work over the years id like to say wow to your attention to detail and quality of the parts used!

Any thoughts on replacement window motors. I bought so A1 auto motors from ebay and together they lasted a day...

Thank you for the kind words! I try to provide the highest quality OEM style harness with or without late model upgrades....I build them exactly as I use them!

There's a local 3M electrical shop in town around here that services any type of motor-Id say check into that or, I have had good luck sending the OEM window motors out to A-1 Cardone for an R&R rebuild. Back when I was a parts counter guy (yep, there were of a few of us parts guys who knew our stuff!) we used to routinely send off OEM parts for customers to get rebuilt-stuff like water pumps, alternators, distributors, etc. when they wanted to retain a numbers matching vehicle.

Will a 2door harness work on a 4door sub?dont necessarily need it on the back doors. Don't roll them down as much.

You can-the kickpanel connectors are different-you'll need to re-pin everything.

Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

The issue with the power window/lock harnesses through the years is that across the board and for no apparent reason, there were many different style of connectors used for the male/female mates which is why if possible, its often better to replace the center harness along with the LH and RH because I build an OEM replacement from end to end so I know everything will mate up. Otherwise, without knowing exactly what connector styles you have on your center harness be it a 2-door or 4-door, I can only supply you with the most common styles-now IF yours appear to be different then a quick pic or two and I can send the corresponding terminals out-much better to shoot me some pics beforehand so I can see what you're dealing with. Also, you just never know what a PO has done to the wiring as well ya know? Either way, if you need a specific connector, drop me a line-I have pretty much every connector/terminal all on hand for even the most unusual situations.

Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

I am curious what people that didn't originally have power windows are using for the door jamb boots? I got my harness and my truck didn't have power windows so I have to drill all of the holes in the jambs. Are people getting original ones at the wrecking yard or are their other alternatives?

Talking Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

Hi, I have a 85 stepside 2 door cab and was wondering if you had a harness that would work for it. It has existing power windows but I am looking for an upgrade and your YouTube video was very impressive. Any information would be appreciated thanks.

Yes-my fan harnesses differ from anything else you will find on the market-I worked (unsuccessfully I might add...) with Mark K. @ Spal some years back about designing a HD fan controller exclusively for the Mark VIII fan and other high output Motorcraft fans. I bought the OEM Motorcraft fans in large bulk from Ford for use in my relay harnesses I was building at the time for my shop customers. Well, two things happened:the fans went on the dis-continued list from Ford and Spal wasn't interested in building such a demanding controller for use with that or any OEM fan. Even their latest fan controller has an internal over current limit of 35 amps. If you try to run a fan that draws any more juice than that, it is designed to kick off.

Given what I know about fan motor efficiency I am not satisfied with any pancake style motor that Spal and most aftermarket companies offer so I was back to the drawing board. A rep for Siemens VDO out of Canada who designed/manufactured the fan motor for Ford informed me they (Ford) wanted a design that could run at full speed 24 hours a day for 10 years if need be...since that deisgn would see service in both high end Lincolns and police package vehicles. So I know from the horses mouth Motorcraft makes the most stout fans hands down.

Now, after reviewing the circuit design that Lincoln used on those fans called a VSC (variable speed controller) that they varied the speed by using a variety of capacitors of varying voltages to change the speed of the fan-not quite PWM but a more mechanical version of it. I figured the same thing could be accomplished through the use of a series of resistors to limit the voltage based on how many resistors the current must pass through-so I built a test harness and it has worked just like I planned from day one-I've perfected it over the last year and now, it serves as a conversion fan harness whereby it can allow you to take any fan-single or dual speed and use it as a 3-speed fan. My aim was to create a harness that can easily handle the demand of the Mark VIII fan since if it can do that, it can handle any fan you run it with, right? And, my relay resistor harness allows for 3 speeds out of it. Nobody else makes a non-PWM kit that can do that.

I just finished testing/running it on a dual 18" fan assembly from a 2010 F250 with the largest dual fan setup I've ever seen-it moves a reported 6000 CFM and pulls about 42 amps @ full speed to do it. I ran both fans at 3 speed in parallel and managed a 16, 28 and 42 on low, medium and high speed.
Awesome info! Thank you

Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

Here's a Motorcraft 2-speed RF24 T-Bird fan mounted stealth style inside a stock pickup fan shroud-it is powered using my 3-speed conversion harness also. This way, the fan motor is converted to 3-speed operation. This type of fan harness allows you to run any style of fan(s) without the worry of high inrush currents or sudden spiking. I've moved away from failure prone PWM controllers and have been using these bullet proof relay resistor fan harnesses for over 6 years now.

Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

For those looking for a complete replacement harness and are using either 81-up doors, are using factory 77-80 power doors or plan to convert manual doors 73-87 using a hardware conversion kit from Classic or A1 I have several options for harnesses-stock, auto down and auto down/up. If you've got a mutt of a build and need options on power accessories, PM me for details-I've got the best options available for power windows!

Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

Not that I'm especially knowledgeable when it comes to e-fan actuation but I do know that even mid grade relays will get eaten up by today's more powerful fan motors. Also, that initial amperage hit can be hi! I remember cruising around with extra relays just for the times when they would go bad to ensure I stayed on the road! Went so for as to source 40amp relays and was going to attempt to build my own harness.....lol.....that was back in 06, still have the parts but no harness!

When I get to the wiring phase I will definitely be contacting you! Thanks for the great info!

Re: F/S: 73-87 power window relay harness

Just wondering, do you make complete vehicle re-wiring kits? I have an 84 K5 am thinking about getting one of your upgrade harnesses for the windows, headlights, and e-fans and am trying to decide if I replace the rest while I'm at it so I have a fresh slate going forward...
