Wiper Washer Hose Routing

On my 66 the washer reservoir is mounted by the voltage regulator and horn relay. I know the hose is routed along side the wire harness on the inner fender but how is it attached to the harness? Tie straps? Coiled around like the AC power feed?

Also, the AIM shows a few mounting variations on the firewall and the bag style by the heater but doesn't show the core support mounting. I can see how the optional brake power booster, (which I don't have), would be in the way. What other reason would it be mounted on the core? A 64-66 year model change?

Thanks!

The assembly manual is showing the firewall mounting for 1960-1962 which was a completely different style. 1963-1966 mounted on the core support. The drawings I show above are from an original 1964 accessory installation book. 66 Should be the same or close. In your note to me you mentioned a "build" , not sure what truck that is ?

Re: Wiper Washer Hose Routing

Those are excellent diagrams, thank you! That's exactly how mine is configured. All I need is to find the three straps.

I think I will try to locate another firewall hose clip too. I only have two. The instructions for the AC system only shows two but all wiper washer related diagrams show three.

Re: Wiper Washer Hose Routing

Now I'm getting a little confused. This is what I have found so far. These straps look like the diagrams but these are made to insert into a hole.

The diagram instructions say to "use the straps provided". Since the harness already has integrated hole mounted clips I was assuming the straps shown only wrapped around the harness and just happened to be drawn in the same location as the hole clips.

What do these straps actually look like?

Re: Wiper Washer Hose Routing

Heres what originals look like. If yours was dealer installed they might be different. Ill have to check an accessory kit. This truck has 22,000 original miles , still has the original ribbed washer hose.Theres 3 of these clips

Plus theres three of these metal clips on the firewall

Re: Wiper Washer Hose Routing

Cool, I have straps with that same function, not necessarily correct but they will work the same. I guess the straps as part of the wiper accessory kit were different.

In one pic I can just barely see one of the harness clips that attach to the inner fender that's next to one of the hose clips. It looks like the hose clips aren't used as designed to be inserted in a hole. Just used as a wrap.

Re: Wiper Washer Hose Routing

Just discovered something else that may or may not be related to the hose routing. I think it's harness related.

I discovered this pic of a metal harness clip on the driver's inner fender. It's right next to the hole for the integrated plastic harness clip. Not sure why it would be needed.

Any ideas?
