TH400/NP208 to NP205

I have a TH400/NP208 combo, I found a guy selling a NP205 off of a TH400 and was wondering if I should be able to pull the NP208 off of my transmission and be able to bolt the NP205 right up to it.

Thanks, Matt

If he's giving you the adapter with it then you will be able to but the adapter is different for a 208 and 205

Re: TH400/NP208 to NP205

Well I am getting the TH400/Adaptor/NP205 TQ and drive shafts from the guy, but my TH400 I have is a good unit and has had all the filters and seals replaced so I would like to use mine as I know it is good and just want to keep the other TH400 for a spare.

Re: TH400/NP208 to NP205

You can bolt that transfer case up to your 2wd TH400 after you remove the tail shaft housing. This will allow you to sell the 400/208 combo to regain some cash.

Re: TH400/NP208 to NP205

Well I am planning on buying the whole TH400/NP205 combo ($450), so I will end up with two 4wd TH400 transmissions. As for the 2wd th400, I traded that and the 454 off for a 6.2 diesel and the th400/np208 combo. So I might just use the Th400 off the 208 and then bolt the th400 off the 205 to the 208 and sell them off. Or just keep the other th400 for a spare.

Planning on going to look/buy it tomorrow morning. I was just wanting to make sure that the 205 would bolt up to the th400 that I have the 208 hooked up to because that transmission is good, and idk the shape of this one that is coming with the 205.
