70' Barn cargo door sill plate?
Hi, i have been looking high and low and have yet to find a replacement sill plate for the rear barn cargo doors. My burbs plate was damaged beyond salvage. Anyone know of where to find one or am i just going to have to fab one up?

Not sure what you are calling a sill plate, but if you are talking about the 2 inch wide metal strip here is some info. If you become a Premium member you can post a "Want To Buy" on the "Blazer & Suburban Stuff" board. They show up for sale on there every once in a while. For membership info click on the word "Subscribe" in the menu bar above. I have used a piece of surface mount carpet bar on a couple of trucks and it didn't look too bad. https://www.tmhardware.com/Carpet-Ed...-L-.375-H.html https://www.tmhardware.com/Carpet-Ed...-W-.375-H.html If this isn't what you are talking about let me know and I will delete this post.... Re: 70' Barn cargo door sill plate?
It seems like, at one time, someone on the parts board, was making a facsimile of that carpet strip. If you don't intend to put carpet in the back; I don't know that it is needed

Re: 70' Barn cargo door sill plate?
How nice of one are you needing? I think i still have one but I know it has some surface rust here and there and it also had a spot completely blown thru with rust. I do not think they are repopped.

LockDoc, can you post a pic of what that replacement looks like, installed?
I feel like I keep finding out about these small pieces I never even thought about. |

Are they different than when you have hatch/gate?

The style I used is a little different than the links I posted because mine had the screw holes in it and it was smooth. I sold the '69 Burb but I will see if I can find a picture on my computer. The other truck I used one on wasn't mine so I know I don't have pictures of it. LockDoc

Re: 70' Barn cargo door sill plate?
I don't know if they used the same thing or not. Maybe someone with the hatch/tailgate will chime in....

Re: 70' Barn cargo door sill plate?
The pic I posted came out of a 69 with barn doors and it is identical to the one I just sold out of a 72 with lift gate. Are they original to the truck? Who can say for sure, 40 plus years later. My 68 panel does not have one & I do not see any screw holes where there ever was and it is barn door.

Re: 70' Barn cargo door sill plate?
My 67 doesn't have one or show signs of ever having one. But I pulled one out of another 67 in a wrecking yard a while back that did. It was a very unmolested truck that rotted away. It likely sat next to someones beach house for 40 years. It was a lift gate and looks like the one richard2717 posted, but I don't think it has the missing lip in the center. Maybe that is the difference between a gate and a barn door plate I can dig it out and get a picture if you want.

Yeah mine looked a bit worse and then broke, it's ok i may just get a nice strip of SS and put it in its place. Or keep hunting around, in no rush currently at the paint and body guy.

I have an extra that has some wear and tear but no rust. Will do $50 + shipping if you are interested.
