Yeah, somebody will be happy to get that one. It looks like it was unearthed at a landfill.

Re: I need a lot more garage space

Gasser look street machine from early-70s "jacked-up" era, but not a real race car. Fat street tires, no roll bar, heavy factory front end. A heap of money with no engine or transmission. Good body, except that chunk missing on the rear wheel arch. I like the car, too. Would love to buy and build an actual gasser from. Just don't have the hundred thousand it would take (wildass guess)

Oh how I miss the days when a lightly used Corvette was just another affordable used car, and older ones were downright cheap.....

That's one of those cars you wait for somebody else to build before you buy it.

Back when it looks like that car was from, around '72-'73, I bought a '61 Vette for $1,500. That was a lot of money compared to the $500-$800 I was paying for most vehicles I drove. But lucky for me someone thought it was worth even more and kept bugging me to sell it. I told him the only way I'd sell it was if he gave me $1,961, and to my surprise the fool went for it. How could I say no?

If the fool hung on to it, I bet he's pretty happy with the deal by now.

Re: I need a lot more garage space

I bet he would. Fast forward to, I think, about '89-'90, I found a bargain on another '61 I considered buying @ $19k because that was a great deal. That one was at a place called The Vette Barn and it was buff. It was a creamy white with saddle interior. They had a '67 427 @ $75k I remember.

Re: I need a lot more garage space

Well , When you look at it a nice 67-72 chevy truck is selling for about the same price as a nice C3 corvette . These old trucks have come a long way ...

Re: I need a lot more garage space

I was at Spring Carlisle car corral a couple years ago looking at what $15k got you in a 67-72 GM Truck. This seemed to be the bar set for a truck someone had thrown a paint job and the minimum replacement parts to sell, nothing special but shiny. Just what I avoid at any cost. Then I see a '67 Coupe DeVille, metallic blue/blue interior, unrestored because it was about mint looking original ready to go low mile garage kept for $15k. Here is a guy who has been attached to these trucks all his life, would rather drive an old truck than a new car, scratching his head, wondering what's wrong with this picture. A beautiful example of the best America had to offer in '67, that is no slouch in the collector car world, that you know no monkey had put his wrenches to offered at the same money as a whatever pickup truck the first thing I'd want to do is go at changing out the LMC rash on. Koo Koo... Koo Koo... Koo Koo. Time to step back and rethink this. If I had $15k on me I'd be driving a Cadillac to truck shows (I have other trucks)
