Powerglide kickdown linkage setup?

Need some help setting up the kickdown on a powerglide and SBC. I am making my own linkages.
I just replaced the shift lever seal, and noticed the kickdown lever, and how it presses on the little plunger.
When installing the lower linkage, should the "resting" position be just off the plunger, resting against it, or further off?

Also. How much movement should the upper linkage have when gas pedal is pressed down?
Just trying to figure out the balance between the upper and lower linkages to allow full throttle movement, and kickdown movement.
