Front Clip - question

I am just wondering, instead of custom fabbing or cutting down a newer IFS for a 39 could you build an adpter. You know a boxed bolt in piece to go between the frame and the IFS crossmember to make up the difference in the width between say a S10 frame and the 39's utilzing the S10's front supension?
