Re: help with gauges
Welcome. On mine the AMP gauge wasn't working because a couple of small fuses were blown on the radiator support (little black rubber fittings in the middle of the wire). This is on a 72 not sure if yours is the same. Is your gas gauge working?

Re: help with gauges
Sorry I tried to link to the FAQ thread with the wiring diagrams but the pictures are gone
I tried to upload the pictures to photobucket but they are in the wrong format. I tried to upload the pics directly but the files are too large!! If I resize them they may not be readable!! Last edited by Thealien; 12-16-2009 at 09:17 PM. |

Re: help with gauges
Where are the wires unhooked at the gauge or fuel sender on tank?

Re: help with gauges
wires are unhooked from the gauge. i replaced the entire gauge cluster - i hooked up the speedometer and the oil pressure. i don't know how to hook up the other gauges (fuel, temp, battery)

Re: help with gauges
Go to a tranny shop to get the right plastic gears in transmission tail end where cable hooks up.

Re: help with gauges
Make sure you have the right harness. Some of the wires go to different places. Also, the sending units on the block may not be working for oil pressure and temperature. These are still available and not hard to fix. The fuel gauge can be a different story. There is a fuel sender in the fuel tank behind the seat. If you remove the single wire that is on the sender and touch it to ground, the gauge should read empty. If the gauge doesn't move, you might have a wiring issue or a bad gauge. If the gauge goes to empty when you touch the wire to ground, you have a bad sender. These are around $30 for replacement.
Make sure all your grounds are good as well. Theres a grounding tab on the gauge cluster too. Sand off the rust...
