Re: Mike's 50

not much progress this weekend, pretty wet and cold( for the Bay Area) the last
week. Brought a door home and installed the weatherstrip. messed up and ruined the first time. 2nd attempt shown. Not happy, but hope the Drivers door will go better. have to order a new weatherstrip and will get a few other item when I order.
Yes, I'm doing the weatherstrip in the living room. no mess and Girlfriend ok with it, or at least didn't say anything.

Re: Mike's 50

I would install that door on the truck first. Make sure it shuts well, before doing the other door. Some people have had trouble with the standard door weatherstripping.

Re: Mike's 50

Jweb, I was thinking the same thing. A friend of mine is having problems with the same issue after installing seals.
I used Steele rubber products in hopes of avoiding some of these problems.
I have read about fitment issues with some of the "cheaper" seals not fitting well.
Have you heard of issues with the Steele rubber seals in particular?
I do have to wait about 5 days for a new seal from Steele, since I messed the other one up.

I had trouble with the Precision brand. I'm not sure about Steele.

I ended up using this https://www.metrommp.com/?f=detail&M...ET&Model=TRUCK

Another company I have used is SofSeal they are super nice!
Very soft and pliable and did not have any issues fitting.

Re: Mike's 50

Joedoh,
No way I was going to do it after putting doors on again. If they never came off that is one thing.
That is why I brought them home. I dont have heat in the shops. Has been cool here. Will take back this week and fit the door and see how the weatherstrip affects the door.

Re: Mike's 50

Well I put in a little time down at the shop. Mounted the passenger door. needs some adjustment, it does close and latch though.
Mounted the drivers mirror, I had already made up a lower radiator hose. I used vibrant performance products.
I started mounting the engine wiring harness and also drilled a hole in firewall recess to run throttle pedal, OBDII connector and ignition switch power for ECM. also shortened the drivers side O2 sensor wiring harness to clean up the harness install.
I still need to shorten the passenger side O2 sensor wiring. Need to run the B+ wire from alternator again.
Last thing I did was final trim and install an fitting on fuel supply to fuel rail, no picture of that.
I also brought the driver door home to install seal and other parts.
I bought another door seal. Also go the stainless lower door weather strip retainer, got a throttle and choke cable. I'm going to install in dash for the Original look and may try to incorporate a switch or something to make then functional for something, wipers, dash dimmer switch?

Re: Mike's 50

I still have a bunch of work to the door, need to final trim and install window channel felt, doesn't fit well but hope to make it better with some adjustment.

Anyone used autocity classic glass?

joedoh, I was trying to keep the wiring clean.
I didnt think of that letting the door rest. I will do that.

I read this every update.
very nice!

You used a steele rubber gasket. Was it a real soft sponge
rubber or a stiffer material?

Re: Mike's 50

Donandal,
Thank you, not as nice as your awesome build, but will be good for me hopefully.
It is p/n: 70-0145-73, it is a sponge material. seems to fit well and is fairly soft

Thanks for the info.
I sent for some samples from Steele Rubber.

That's another job I dread!
