Transmission help

What transmission came on the 1/2 ton 1954 chevy truck - It is a 3 speed original tranny that came with the truck. Cant seem to find any information on it.

Re: Transmission help

The great majority of the 3 speeds were the light duty box with a 4 bolt side cover. These are internally similar to the passenger car transmission, but use a different case. If you have this transmission, it should look like the pics on this page (disassembly and repair instructions are here too, if you need them):

That HD transmission shown in the preceding post is a Warner T-89 and is fairly scarce. If you actually have one of those, consider it a prize. Most buyers looking for a transmission upgrade went for the 4 speed because it didn't cost terribly much more than the T-89.

Re: Transmission help

Here are few pictures I took this afternoon of the motor and transmission. The story is a close friend of mine owns a Napa Auto store and a client of his could not pay his bill...so the client gave him a 1954 1/2 ton chevy truck as partial payment of his bill. My friend asked me if I wanted the motor and tranny from the truck since he his putting in a new 350 v8 crate motor.

The motor has all of the parts including the oil bath air cleaner, starter , mounts etc, etc. My friend actually drove the truck to the shop so I could remove it yesterday.
