Mandarin Interior

Looking for some info regarding Mandarin Interiors.I picked up a truck that is listed as Mandarin Int on the SPID but not one piece of mandarin is left. What parts were mandarin? What colour was the dash? headliner? Door panels? carpet? Pictures would help?
Thanking you in advance.

Re: Mandarin Interior

Mandarin Orange interiors are rare, but very cool. If I were you, I would be very tempted to try and return it to it’s orginal interior.

Re: Mandarin Interior

Thanks for the comments/ feedback. The truck is actually a k5 two wheel drive and needs a complete interior. If I can find the carpet and material for plaid seats I will likely return the interior to Mandarin. Any and all help us appreciated.

No, I haven’t done a Mandarin Orange Seat yet. I just did a search for mandarin interiors and found these pics. If I did do one it would be with these materials. These are the samples that my guy Pete showed me. He is the one that makes the covers for me. This gives me more time to restore the frames & tracks.

Re: Mandarin Interior

I would love to have a truck with the Mandarine at some point. The last new squarebody my dad bought new in 78 was a white shortbed k10 with the Orange. He was always talking about how few trucks he saw with it. To this day being in the truck parts business, I still have only seen a few compared to the other colors

Re: Mandarin Interior

Thanks to all.
TKCR I have contacted USA-1 and have a sample kit coming.
Thank you for the tip.

If I can find a source to do the seats (1986 K5) similar to the originals we will be happy.

Could be an orange interior in my future.

Just think up until a week ago I had never even seen a mandarin interior. Who knew?
BTW I have driven square bodies since new (1973). Don't know how I missed the mandarin. These must be rare(r)?

Re: Mandarin Interior

Oh, i like this.

I could see a white truck with mandarin interior with some white accents.

IMO, black truck with mandarin would look great, too!

Re: Mandarin Interior

Lighter colors are a big no IMHO... Light Blue, Light Green, and light Gray are the colors that wouldn't work well.

White is a big maybe... It kinda goes with anything just like Black

The darker colors and the red spectrum colors will work... Dark Green, Dark Blue, Dark Gray, Red, Orange, and Black should work OK. I think I might go with a black dash pad.
