Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Today I was able to get the March pulleys on the motor, cut out the old manual transmission crossmember, and place a compressor/tank bracket. The new trans will be ready Monday. Too bad I work on monday. I wont be able to touch my truck till Tuesday. Soon as the trans is in, I will be able to get the truck back together and up and running again. Phase 1 of the build will be mostly done. Phase 2 will be some time in the summer most likely. I will add a vintage air before summer. It's too hot out here in Vegas.

That's all right man. Thanks for checking. Yep, I dig the fact that you went with the same color.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

It has been hard to get time to work on my truck this week. I was able to yesterday for a few hours. I managed to get a few things done. The new trans is in now with the Lokar shifter. I was able to pull out the clutch pedal, put the new shorty headers on, and place the serpentine belt on the motor. Today I will be able to get in a few more hours. Lets see what I can get done.

Very nice work on the truck. That March setup is top notch.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Today I was able to wire up and mount my new valves and compressor. I was also able to prep my fire wall for the filler panels going on tomorrow and mock up my battery relocation bracket.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

It has been hard to find the time to work on the truck lately. Only been able to get a few hours here and there. Firewall is now all welded up and in primer. The battery box is also welded up. I was able to run about 90% of my airbag lines too.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Well I was able to finally get in some work on the truck. I took the truck outside and gave it a much needed degrease and power wash. I could not believe how much crap was on the front suspension. I was also able to sand the primered firewall and paint it. I need to order a new wiring harness, motor mounts, and steering column. I am wanting to order all of my front suspension but will have to wait.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Yesterday I was able to take off the front suspension to get ready for the new CPP set up. I will be running CPP tubular control arms with drop spindle and big brake kit. The old set up that the owner had installed was a "hack job". Unsafe with lines running through metal and the bags contacting the frame. Not to mention it was rusty as all hell and looked like ****. I also was able to put in the new motor mounts. The stock ones were contacting the headers. Steering column was pulled for the new set up. I still need to clean up the front of the frame and paint it before putting on all the new components.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Over the last few days, I have been able to clean up the front frame area and paint it. Wanted it to look good before I placed the new CPP control arms and disc brakes. The old bag set up was dangerous with rubbing and homemade cups. I need to take a picture and share so you can appreciate. That is what you get when you buy a "custom truck" sight unseen. Oh well, looks good now and is safe. The new airlift bags with new cups fit great with no rubbing.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

I have been busy but have managed to get in a few hours here and there to work on the truck. I have a change of plan with the rear suspension. I will now be putting in a parallel four link with monster notch and new bag set up. The front end is lower and I want the back to be as low. I have already started prepping the rear for the new weld in components. I also got the front end back on minus the hood, grill, and bumper. I had to trim the inner front fenders to make it fit. Should be welding on the truck next week.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Over the last 2 days I was able to strip the rear frame and weld in the notches. The notches are about 75% done. I just need to cut out the middle and weld in the bottoms. This was my first welding job and it went pretty well. The rear end is at the sand blasters now. Saturday I will pick it up and start on the 4 link hopefully.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Everything looks good,... but I think you have your centerlink and inner tie rods backwards.
The inner tie rod nut is suppose to be on the front side of the centerlink.
Backwards is an easy way to bend an outer tie rod.

Funny you noticed that! Ya I fixed it shortly after this pic was taken. Didn't think anyone would notice it in the pic.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

It has been a while since I have posted. I have not been able to work on the truck as often as I would like to. Life gets in the way as you know. I have gotten some things done though in the last few months. The biggest thing I have going is the back half. I am currently in the mock up process. I have a Kp watts link on order but the four link is in. I still have quite a bit of welding and work to do but it is coming along. I home made the top bag mounts. Hopefully I will be done with it soon. I also have some Porterbuilt hood hinges that should arrive shortly.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

I am at a little stand still until the some parts show up. So today I decided to take out the bed floor in preparation for the raise. It was a little bit of a pain in the ass but I got through it. I am still considering how I will get the job done with the raise. I have a few good ideas.
