Re: 1967 Shop truck from a beater [build ]

Ok. Finished the 3/5 Western chassis drop. I am pleased with the stance, although I have not drove it. Will update on the ride later. Here are some pictures of the truck as of a little while ago.

Update on the ride. First off it rides almost exactly the same as the long bed springs. The shocks helped more than anything as the ones I removed were worn out. Measured on the shop floor the front dropped 2-7/8 and the rear dropped 4-3/4. They may settle a bit as time goes on. A couple of pics.

Re: 1967 Shop truck from a beater [build ]

Went to the Frog Follies in Evansville Saturday and found an amazing amount of c10 stuff in the swap meet. Ended up buying a few bumpers for later on and one for the shop truck. Got it on last eve after work and snapped a pic. Got a set of 6 lug truck rallye wheels and they are going on next. One fellow had some good fenders and doors priced right and I may make a run up his way sometime.

You do good work. Luv the Scotty too! I've towed mine with a 4/6 static drop without any problems. Mine is a 71' Sportsman.

Re: 1967 Shop truck from a beater [build ]

Thanks guys, I redid the Scotty to pull behind my 55 Chevy sedan. Ended up towing it just as much with the 72 I had. I had to build a receiver for the car so when I get a little farther along I plan on doing the same with the pickup. Mine is a front kitchen model and the tounge weight is 180lbs. I dont think that will be a problem. If it is, I will address it then.

How about a wheel change. Finally chunked those old sawblades.

Re: 1967 Shop truck from a beater [build ]

I've been busy driving the shop truck back and forth to work. and am getting ready for round 2. I have tallied up about 5000 miles and it has proven to be a good, dependable truck. I have several parts hoarded up to put on it that will change the looks. So, I stopped by a friends retro store and took a before shot. When I am done, I will drop by the place for an after shot and frame them both. Will post progress pics as I go.

Re: 1967 Shop truck from a beater [build ]

I want to thank you guys who helped in this build. It more or less was a practice run on an unloved junker. I tried to make the most of it , but at the point of no return, I decided to let her go. I got exactly what I was after, a shop truck from a beater. I could have poured a few more grand in it, but condition wise, I don't think I could have stayed above water on it. Anyway, its going to a good home near my son's house ironically, a couple hundred miles away, so I will get to visit it from time to time. All that said, here is a few "after" shots and on to the next build. I'm already looking!
