I underestimated the time and work on the cummins install, I know better too but its been a long time since I restored a truck, and those were just restorations, not all this fabricating. I have fabricated before just not on such a grand scale.
I'm stoked now and want it street legal. Amazingly brakes, clutch trans, etc all work good. My wife and son drove it last night and both said it drives normal.
I'm gonna get the roof welded on, install the front and rear glass and start driving it.

A picture of my liftgate, it’s attached to the rear receiver hitch, removable with a couple set-bolts.

I’ve been driving it everyday and I’m very impressed.
It steers great and handles parking lots and drive throughs at least as well as my 2002 duramax crew cab. When I bought the frame the seller said it had a redhead box on it, seems true, it has a nice heavy feel and is about 3.25turns lock to lock.
The Cummins has a lot of power when your on the turbo, the afc is gutted so you have to throttle it based on boost build up.
The brakes are great. I used the optional larger brake parts from square body trucks option code jb7, 1 1/4” piston master cylinder and the larger 3.14” piston calipers, luckily it works well together, especially considering I’m not using the factory booster linkage. I built a bracket to mount the booster directly to the firewall since I needed intake manifold clearance.
I put in a new clutch and hydraulics, it works great on the pedal linkage and firewall mount I made.
Overall it’s real easy to drive and doesn’t seem to have any quirks that need attention.

I’ve got my car trailer hooked to it, picking up a 24’ I beam today.

I put a windshield and rear glass in it last weekend and yesterday I tacked the roof skin on. Gonna finish welding the roof up this weekend and get the side windows all in too.

Very nice! I really wish I did a crew cab for mine now! Putting these engines in these trucks really makes for a nice truck and you can afford to use it for anything.

My wife works in the window business so its no problem to have that window cut and tempered, I'm gonna try to get a pattern for those this weekend and get them cut.

Thanks and thanks for the reply to my lift pump question. I installed the new overflow valve and now have god pressure.

As soon as I verify the speedo accuracy I am going to check the mileage, it does seem like its not using much fuel though.

I actually used the liftgate Thursday to deliver a bandsaw, was handy but it did start leaking down, need to fix that.

I took a road trip this week. Tacoma, WA to Vancouver, WA. The trip is 133 miles each way via google maps.
I was hesitant to take the truck but really wanted to see how it handles on the highway, check the mileage and verify that its completely roadworthy.
It ran and drove great. I was nervous the whole time that I hadn't tightened something down because I have done that before.
On the return trip I carefully filled up then topped off to check the mileage, result was 19mpg so I'm very very happy with that. I could tell on the trip down that my mileage was between 15 and 20 based on the fuel gauge.
The trip was uneventful but just as I was about to leave the freeway I heard the sound of metal flying across the pavement...got home and noticed I lost a bracket holding up the lift gate, luckily I didn't loose the whole gate. I returned find the bracket and only found part of it. I thought I heard a metal sound earlier on the trip so I must have lost the other half of the bracket then.

Great to hear that your truck ran good.
Not so great about the bracket.
But like you stated at least you did not lose the whole gate.
I bet you know (someone) that could make another bracket
Just another project to add to the list.

Latest project is finishing up now. Dana 60 front, I completely rebuilt and regeared it. Also installed a Dana 70 rear with powerlock.

Thanks, I feel a lot more confident with the big front axle. The 3.54 gears took a. It getting used to, I didn’t think it would make much difference but it is noticeable on takeoff,
