That transfer case boot

I have a 2000 Silverado K1500 with the auto transfer case . It has a small leak at the front of the case in the area of the front propeller shaft . There is a boot ( picture ) with one clamp. On line info says , some cases had one clamp and other cases had two clamps . I think this must be the two clamp boot and the first clamp is missing . Am I right and is the boot my most likely candidate for the leak ? Thanks .

Re: That transfer case boot

That boot is just a dust boot to keep the shaft from getting to dirty and tearing up the seal in the front of the t-case where the yoke slides into the case. Most likely your leak is from a worn front output seal.
