33" vs. 35" Tires?
Hello All,
New to the forum, just picked up a '68 K10 4X4. Came with a 4" lift and 35" tires. It's a bit of a beast configured like this, so I was considering 33" tires instead. I was looking for feedback, and maybe some pictures of others that may have a 4" lift and 33" tire setup that I could view? Just FYI, it's had a frame off resto, I need to tend to the body and A/C to finish it off... TIA, |

Truck looks great.
Not a whole lot changes as far as going back to 33's. They don't fill the wheel wells as much and look dinky IMO. Great thing about 33's is they will fit with no lift or just a 2 1/2" while my experience is that a 4" lift is required for 35's. Will raise RPM about 10% so that could impact you negatively depending on gear ratio in truck. On my Jimmy I went from the stock 29" tall 235 75 15 to 33 14.5 Mickey Thompsons and no lift. I then went to a 4" lift and some tires and it looked ridiculous. 35" Mickey T's followed then some BFG MT's which were a big improvement. Currently truck has 16.5" 35 12.5 BFG AT's on it and is the perfect setup IMO. Would have stuck with MT's but they don't make them anymore and I get a deal on the AT's in 16.5".

The lift is what makes it a beast. Going to 33s will reduce the height by 1" and I think it looks better with 35s.

Thanks Everyone for the advice so far. I do like the look, don't get me wrong. We struggle a bit getting into the truck. I can't seem to find a cab step (single) that will fit and help us climb in/out of it. Don't want a running board....

This is a truck that a friend of a friend owns. I think the cab step is quite nice, unfortunately I don't know where to find one but it compliments the truck very nicely.

On pans (earthscrapers) I have seen two pieces of chain hang down with a piece of flat stock between them. That is a step that can collapse if you hit ground with it and it could be hooked up out of sight till you need it

I put 33s on with I had the 4.10s I like them with the 4.10s. Now I have 4.56 and that's going to drive my tire size up.... as a matter of cheap gearing and excuse to buy bigger tires! You can see my avatar is my 4" lift with 33s.
