Exclamation Possible to save this truck?

I'm looking to buy back a truck from a junk yard that had an engine fire. Its a 95 GMC 3/4ton ext cab long box with a 454/4l80e.

Now I get its gonna take a ton of work to fix Monster (as I call him) however he was my first big block daily driver and driving Monster was simply amazing. I just wanted some opinions on what you guys thought about fixing a truck with fire damage.

I don't really care about the interior as I was going to swap it out for a red interior instead and the electronics under the hood were probably going to go away as well.

(Ps to the mods. Sorry if my pics are too big)

Anything is possible. It can be rebuilt but I really question if it is worth the effort? Your going to need another truck as a donor to make the dollars work I would think. Looks like a parts truck to me.

well how much money and how much the truck is worth when fixed don't really mean much to me anymore. If it didn't have the sentimental value I'd agree. However people around here want so blame much for 454 powered trucks around here. If they aren't beat to death they want 8k and up.

Nope, nope, nope. There's way too much damage. I know. I bought a BB '97 last summer and I'm already into it more in parts than what I paid for the truck. BB parts aren't available any more and I'm finding this out the hard way. I'm replacing parts that were damaged more from neglect and time and I haven't got to the interior yet.

Like I said how much I have into the truck and how much he's worth doesn't mean much. When I asked for your guys opinions I was meaning more as in structure damage from the fire as in weakening the cab and frame in front.

it would be great if you could find a similar year/engine truck that was in a wreck or something you can have all the parts and wiring you need.

years ago i bought a 85s10, engine compartment looked about as bad but the fire didnt reach the inside. i had a rusty 83 s10 i used for parts so made it really simple just parked them next to each other and swapped over parts

well made it to the junk yard it was at today. All that was left was the frame and one of the axles with a couple of the wheels leaning against the frame. Although its possible they just sold the whole truck without the rims. hopefully that happened.

If money is no object, then yes, it can be fixed. Buy a 95 3/4 or 1 ton truck with similar options. Start swapping everything. Or do a cab swap.

I personally don't understand the sentimental part. These trucks are cheap, and there are a zillion of them out there. And those TBI 454s are rather anemic.

What electronics do you want to get rid of under the hood?

Good luck.
