6.0 to sm465 (1970 gmc long bed)

Good evening everyone

I'll get to it....I was originally going to mount my 6.0 behind a zf-60 s40 vette transmission. The reason was because I haven't seen a build like it, but due to budget restrictions, that build (just for the motor to transmission modification) is out of my price range.

So after running some numbers over some nice cigars, I've decided it would be more cost effective to mount it behind the original sm465.

The motor has been rebuilt from the bottom up to apply some form of forced induction onto the motor later on. Which at that point, the sm465 (for my needs) will need to be replaced. That time is in the future at some point. The main objective is to get the driving.
Once the time comes for the forced induction, I'll be switching the transmission over to a Tremec TKO/Magnum. Again, that's in the future(after college).

I'm positive there's articles out there about the swap, but I'm leaning on everyone's expertise that has direct access to that knowledge. With that being said, I'm in need of the parts list to make the mount happen....or if there's a build article that's been compiled, id greatly appreciate the link.

Have a great evening,

weedoublewide

P.S. if anyone has a need or a 91 vette tranny ( I GOT THE HOOKUP)

I would rather have my engine in front of the trans.....
haha...couldn't resist. ..

I started to go with the old 465 behind my 6.0 swap....but decided against and am glad I didn't use it...I went with a nv4500....not saying it won't work but I'd be looking for whatever you want to run and go that route...do it once and do it right..

I'm not sure if the length of the bellhousing for the 465 will work but it will bolt to the LS...but you will need a flywheel , clutch, p-plate that will fit the LS...get ready....they ain't cheap..check advance adapters for parts. .

LOL I was wondering how long it would take for a pun to make it way though.

So let me ask you this mongo sir, could you use the same flywheel that came with the motor and what type of clutch did you decide to go with and why?

did your 6.0 have flywheel? ...if so that's one step closer...the thing is there's a length difference you have to overcome...do you know if you have a early or late 6.0?

It came with the flywheel, it still has to be resurfaced because its rusty as heck. It came out of a 2006 silverado 2500, I believe that makes it an early correct...?
