I recently added an auto dimming inside rearview to my 93 Yukon. I'd love to retrofit the heated auto-dim outside rearview mirrors from a newer truck. Has anybody done it, or have any info on it? I haven't had a chance to compare the two mirrors side by side off the truck, but I think the mount may be different on the newer ones. I also wonder if the new mirror etc would fit in the older housing, perhaps?

Anyone have any info or ideas on this?

Sounds like you may be the test case. Have you tried looking at an aftermarket truck supply store and doing a comparo on the two mirrors?

Just an idea, the OBS Escalades had heated mirrors. Same as 96-98 mirrors, but with heat.

To answer your question, OBS means, old body style.

OOBS=73-87 truck
OBS=88-98 truck
NBS=99-05/06
NNBS=06/07-up

These are the acronyms I've seen to distinguish the different body styles. Although they are simple, they can also be confusing and only apply to the trucks as the burbs/blazers/some heavy trucks didn't always changeover at the same times.

OBS has also meant Obselete.....GM, as other manufacturers, was mandated by the feds to keep parts in stock, or available, for 10 years after a model was discontinued.

I was meaning old body style. 99-00 Eskys I think? Not sure what else had heated mirrors, OBS wise.
