hello

Hi I was able to get my hands on a 1970 blazer k5 4x4 I know they aren't the 4x2 which are quite a bit more rare but was wondering anyone know if the in line six that they came with was that any good? This a six cylinder k5 which honestly I had not ever seen and I know the owner has had it since new. Was also going to ask I does anyone also know how desirable the 69 gmc 4x4 stepside long beds are compared to the k5 blazers?

Re: hello

The 250 six was the base engine. I've never seen a Blazer with one, but I don't know how rare they are.

As far as being more desirable, what do YOU want?

Yes, it is. To me the Blazer (first generation) is the ultimate truck, the best thing anyone has ever built. Four wheel drive, gorgeous lines, and the sun on your face and wind in your hair. It doesn't get any better than that.

Re: hello

Those straight 6 engines are supposed to be extremely reliable. Ive heard 300k miles is not uncommon. As far as power I think they are torquey but don't have much else for top end power. I owned a jeep years ago with a straight 6 and it was nice for wheeling but left much to be desired on the street so that's my comparison. Of course it had emission equipment so maybe there's more power to be had without that chocking it down. I personally think the V8 is the only way to go. Especially LS which is on my short list for mine.
