Rear Hatch Latch Assembly

Where can I find the complete latch asembly for the rear hatch on a 72 K5? Does any one make a retro gas strut system for the hatch or must you go back original?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Rear Hatch Latch Assembly

not sure about the latch, but some have rebuilt them and if you pay attention to the parts board you can find a used one there.
as for the lift arms i have seen guys put short hatch struts in there. kinda have to build your own kit.

Re: Rear Hatch Latch Assembly

Has anyone done the gas strut deal on a Blazer or Jimmy? Its obviously been done on burbs, but they have a steel hatch, right? Any concerns about doing this on a fiberglass removable top?

Re: Rear Hatch Latch Assembly

Guana, what exactly do you need? I have extra hatch stuff but the handles are usually somewhat pitted. I jave the internals as well. A lot of people use a new garage door handle on their hatch.

Re: Rear Hatch Latch Assembly

I need everything except the handle, I need all the guts that go inside the hatch and the 2 brackets that hold it up.

Re: Rear Hatch Latch Assembly

I have three hatches that are nearly done with repairs but the latches on either side are very rusty and the springs are toast. I cleaned them up and they look good and everything moves freely again but the springs are still missing now so .i was wondering if a fastener shop might have the springs and I might be able to thead the new spring into the latch without disassembling it .iI know long shot but I thinking Sombody has tinkered with these things before .
Here's some eye candy but the hatches are useless without latches. Those have gone thought about a week and a half worth of work each but they are original a Guaranteed to fit . I"m also thinking of selling them as repaired shell with the brackets at each end and new hinge brackets installed already , just mount the hardware that is removable ie the bracket at each end and the lock and you have a new hatch Regards RobName: image.jpg
