Opinions on a 67-72 4x4 as a daily driver

i have been daily driving my 71 k10 longbed with a 3-4" lift and kelly all terrain 33x12.50x15's for about 6 months or so i think.
every day everywhere i go. i love the heck out of it, got a receiver to tow and im off, stock 350 with quadrajet still and auto 350. i fly down the highway at 55-60 and doesnt skip a beat juast chugging along. lots of thumbs ups too.pretty sweet. and concrete curbs are no obstacle hehehe

I drove my 59 as a DD in stock 2wd from 76 to 85, then in 4wd (74 drive train) from 85 to 2000. 6-8K miles a year, probably 2/3 in town, rest camping and hunting off road. When I get it put back together it will be my DD again.

My daily is a 70 GMC 4x4, wouldn't be afraid to take it anywhere.
Maybe not as good of fuel mileage as what you get now but hey it is easy to work on.

My sierra was awesome 22mpg no trailer on the way down, 12mpg loaded coming home..
( the wife drives the sierra in winter).

Awesome. love the color. i am maybe a half hour from Dolores. it took a lot of self control on my part not to go buy that truck. i even had a saturday blocked out to go check it out and buy it, then backed out and decided to save the cash for my project. small world!

my 68 4x4 has been daily driver for years and its mostly factory.closed knuckle dana,power nothing and a good heater.she hasnt let me down yet.

It's been a year......

So I bought the 72 in Colorado , what I've done
new Holley street avenger carb
Mad pro billet distributor
Performer eps intake
New rad and belts
Recovered the seat, swapped dash pads, redid the cluster
Installed a Red Head quick ratio power steering box

Installed 33x12.50 good year duratracs. On 15x8 CUCV wheels.

Aaaaaaaand put on 8,000 trouble free miles

Great desicion. Absolutly love the truck, starts, runs and drives great!!

This year it'll see a set of vortec heads . A cam, and possibly a 2 or 4" tuff country lift!!

Very nice. My '72 K2500 has been my DD in SF Bay traffic for the past year. It had a hard life hauling firewood, so the body is beat. But, came with an almost new crate 350/TH350. 4" lift on 35in tires. Starts and runs reliably. Front suspension and brakes are getting a full rebuild in December. Replacement bed and driver door are slowly getting prepped in the garage when I can find the time.

SF Bay Area drivers are the worst, especially when it comes to forced merging. They definitely have second thoughts when they see my 1/4" plate steel bumpers and a body that looks like it wouldn't even notice another Prius-shaped dent.

Looking good and a great choice for a driver. No moldings, real mirrors, and a relatively unaltered surviving truck. Your subtle changes are all spot on and I'm sure they were to help the truck better suit your needs.

I think I ignored this thread when originally posted because the title asked a silly question, then I read "suffer through" the winter and clicked the back button. These trucks were made to be year 'round daily drivers and a 4wd was certainly meant to be driven in the winter when 2wds stay home. The only thing that has changed is age and cost of fuel. So, I'll guess that is what is meant by "suffer through". I took that to mean without an LS and overdrive, and that would mean I've been suffering for a long time!
Here we are fast-forwarded a year and the proof is in the puddin'. You are a happy camper with miles behind you to prove these trucks are just fine daily driven. I don't drive mine year 'round because of salty roads. I mean, if the roads aren't clear and dry in an hour it's the end of the world around here. What that short sightedness causes us is no long term use of our second largest lifetime purchase (ad them all up and we probably spend more on vehicles than houses). But, I've had my '72 for 14 years and never really ever went through it. I have repaired things as I've seen needed, but seems like very little at all. I mostly just drive it...March/April through November/December, or two good rains after the last snow till the first snow. It's my primary use vehicle during that time and I'm a home improvement contractor, so it hauls regularly. I also load it up with parts, and a 5' x 10' utility trailer, and take it to Carlisle Trucks over a couple mountains.

I know Ive seen your truck around and I will attest to that wrecking ball of a bumper that you're running! No doubt BA drivers are pretty bad.

And to SWClassics... Sweet truck! As the import guys say " love the stance". The wheel / tire combo has to be one of my favorites. As far as a daily driver, I DD my '63 frequently. AC and power windows are on my list but as far as all the other doodads and creature comforts - unneeded IMO. Beautiful truck you got there. Enjoy!

I'll second what 63genlll said. Beautiful truck. Having one as a DD is what they ask of there owners. By far coolest vehicle iv owned is my 65. If you have other vehicles you have to remember to drive the other one every now and again. They tend to get jealous of each other.

I drive mine daily, and have a 2001 Dodge 3500 for the nasty days. I go back and forth with the 70 Blazer, to the more car like ride the 67 offers.
I put over 2000 miles on the 67, since purchasing memorial day weekend.
The first snowfall, away the go.

My mom bought a 1971 K10 brand new. Some years later we got it and drove it for about six years until the twins got so big that we sold it and bought a Suburban.

My 69 is my rainy day and winter dd driver. Dry days i drive my 55. As someone else mentioned neither you or you vehicle will last forever. Drive them as much as possible!
