Rear bed cross sill indent?

I noticed that some of the 67-72 trucks rear cross sill have an indent and some do not. Is there some kind of reason for the indent? Why do some trucks have them but others don't?

Does your truck have an indent?

Of all the Blazers I have owned/parted, or the '72 truck I own, they are all smooth.

I checked my blazers, both are smooth. The stepside wood floor I had had an indent in it.

Were all your trucks wood beds? I'm starting to think steel beds were smooth and wood beds were indented.

Re: Rear bed cross sill indent?

My 72 was metal and that one I can't remember that one but the others (67s and 68s) were all wood and they were all indented.
