Re: 1988-1998 Reg. Cab Shortbeds

Here is my 88 GMC Sierra, bought her for $800 off of a NJ farm and about two years later here's how she looks now.
Before...

Whoa son! That is simply beautiful. What a change. You had to have sunk some serious coin in it. What all have you done to it? I love my GMCs.
Oh and welcome to our forums.

Re: 1988-1998 Reg. Cab Shortbeds

Thanks and yes there was some change spent on her during the build. So far all of the work has been suspension, interior, body and paint. The drive train has 180K on it and plans to replace it with a crate motor and trans are in the future, as for now she runs great.

Here's a few pics of the interior, I have since changed the steering wheel and the door panels.

The two tone interior is different. I like it. Being a farm truck how rough was it? The before pic looks like it had been treated to an allover paint job at some point, bumpers and grille and all.

jmig, truck looks amazing. What bed cover are you running? And what size wheels and drop do you have?

Re: 1988-1998 Reg. Cab Shortbeds

It was rough, there had been field mice living it and the original bench seat had a nice stench to it! I don't think it was used as a farm truck in the sense, it was just parked there. It had a 2/4 drop on it from the PO and I have changed it over to a 4/7 with all new bushings in the leafs and upper and lower control arms with new tie rods up front. It was a maroon truck and was painted yellow and then the white. I'll post my build thread so everyone can see the transformation.

Thanks, it is a Snugtop that I found used on C-List for $100.00! 20x8.5 Boss 304's with McGaughys spindles and springs up front with their flip kit and notch with lowering shackles to get 7 inches out back. Running Summit Sport shocks on all four corners with a Helwig front sway bar.

jmig- where did you get those tail lights. I like em'. Not to gaudy but still a little custom. Nice touch.

Most aftermarket parts retailers have them these days or you can find them on eBay. That's where I got my set. You can usually find them for a little over $100 shipped on eBay, but the retail on them is like $289.

It's a 305 w/ 234,xxx miles. I've recently replaced alternator and power steering pump, but I'm really wanting to do an LS swap in the very near future. I drive this thing to shows everywhere.

At least it's a V8. Mine's a 350 5-speed with 199,xxx.

Right on! You're truck is super nice, by the way. I'll probably end up driving it til it blows up, lol. It still runs strong.

I'd love to do an LS/6-speed swap someday, but it's not in the cards right now and if things don't change, it won't ever happen. My truck first hit 199,000 probably about a decade ago, so you can see how much it gets driven. I think I've got just over 100 miles to hit 200,000. I need to do some driving in it.
