What does a crossover do? are they really needed in a component speaker? looking at deals you find component systems and alot of them have crossovers i'll run a small amp to them nothing special tho. 200Watt or so. also does anyone know where to find kick panels for 71 C10's?

Re: Stupid Queston

Crossovers are a filtering system. They filter out the frequencies not designed for a particular speaker. for example, a tweeter should only get the higher frequencies, like 4.5Khz - 20Khz. You don't want any lower frequencies to go into the tweeter because it will shorten the life of the tweeter, and it isn't designed to handle that lower end frequencies. Vice-versa with a woofer. Just like a Tweeter isn't designed to handle lower end frequencies, a woofer or a sub-woofer isn't designed to handle the higher frenquencies.

As for the Kicks, LMC sells them, but I keep hearing that they don't line up well and need alterations done to make them look good. I keep hearing it may be better to build your own set or have them custom made. That is what I am working on. I have them done and they fit well, but I still need to cover them, and haven't decided if I want vinyl, leather, or cloth.

Good luck
