Can anyone help me out. I need to change my wheel studs for longer ones and I am not sure what is the correct size for my 1969 c10 step side I would like to get some that is 3" long any help would be great

I don't think the factory size on 1969 6 lug is 1/2-20.... I think it is 7/16 but you can drill them out for the 1/2-20....

It is 5 lugs

I would remove one and take it with me to the parts store to be sure I got the correct ones. There are quite a few different spline configurations out there.

Ok , hoping some one can help me .

I need longer studs , for new aluminum wheels.

My 68 K1500 , has. 7/16 x 20 studs . My question is how do I determine the spline diameter ? I think they at .560. But I am not sure and need this size to order proper studs .

Pound one out and measure with a dial caliper. Measure both the stock stud and the hole. There should be a slight difference between the two. There is an acceptable range of a difference between the stud and hole for the proper press fit.

I would measure the front and back to see if they are the same. My rear's were a smaller knurl than the front, but I had aftermarket front brake rotors.

If you can find half inch threaded studs with the right sized knurl for the hole you have then it would be a good upgrade.

Also, depending on what you have for wheel thickness and lug nuts, closed end lug nuts specifically. Dont be surprised if you have to cut the studs to a custom length.

I called dorman direct , they had all the info I needed . Saves a lot of guessing. Got the part number for my front hub studs

Can you share, need to replace the front studs on my 71 5-lug but do not know the knurl size. It is a driver so I can't knock them out and measure without replacements ready to go.

Go on line , get the dorman web site , they have a contact # . Call and go to tech dept. they also have an online chart , if you can locate you vehicle on it .
