I would also like to peek at some 73 to 87 frame specs. Some good detailed body builders blueprints. The only ones i can find dont have very detailed measurements.

Although that one pic above states 74 to 70...was there an overlap in production?

Anyway yea if someone can share some 73-87 specs that would be cool. Building a 2x4 frame now and would make things go a little faster.

Edit: i did find these but the wheelbase doesnt match another document i have. 117.5" vs 131.5"
Can someone confirm the year of this frame pic or at least the true wheelbase of a 73 87 2wd swb.

Edit again!!! Answered my own Q. The bigger wheelbase was the longbed...duh. well heres the shortbed blueprint for the later year c10....let the custom frame commence!!!

This has to be one of the most difficult subjects (frame dimensions) to acquire information. Does anyone know if there is a publication available which has specs on the frame? Seems like one can find many books on engines/transmission but frames? Good luck.

Well, I have recently purchased a '70 one ton and it is all original equipment. I want to buy a donor truck, replace the front drums to disk and lose the split rims. But I am interested in having a rear axle from the donor which will fit neatly into the '70.

Doesn't have to be a perfect match but the Silverados I have looked at (pictures) seem to have a much wider rear axle than the 70 C30.

I want a rear axle the same width as the one that is presently in the truck, along with many other parts the donor truck will provide. I can measure the axle in the truck I have but that does nothing to tell me what length axles are in a possible donor.

I thought frame dimensions might help to determine axle widths.

Would someone please help me with the vertical height difference between the front and rear cab mounts of a 1967 C series truck (i.e. Rear mounts are 3.25" higher than the fronts)? I sold my chassis before i got the measurements and am mounting the cab and bed to a 2004 Escalade chassis.
These show the back mount 3.43" higher than the front??

I'm looking for ALL the frame dimensions and diference bet ween a SWB a LWB and a long horn FRame. I've tried my best to follow the links here but they all seems to fail for me.. I need this info so I can modify to make the custom cab I bought fit also would like to know about the between a c10 and C20, C30 frames.

I really am trying to accumulate info before I start tearing into this project and what options I have with materials I own now.

Pony up and get the assembly manual. It has all the various frame measurements. And a ton of other good info.

I went thru the online on and couldnt find the info I needed is the hard bound one filled with more info...

I’ve never looked at the online version. The print one had enough info for me to shorten a frame and verify all the pertinent dimensions.

Are the assembly manuals pretty much the same for 67-72.. because on my truck the cab started as a 69 suburban the front end is 68, the current frame it is sitting on is something mid 70-80s. THe bed is completely custom and chopped The replacement long bed I got is from a 71. THe new frame I am going to use and modify is a 72 C20 longhorn.... So I'm in kinda in a pickle as I dont feel like buying 1/2 dozen assembly manuals to cover all my bases... and when I get around to doing stuff like drivetrain and wiring etc. it is all going to be full custom

I found out that a regular long bed wont just fit on a longhorn frame because once lined up with the rear wheelwells the frame sticks out too far past the tail gate...

The assembly manual is 67-72. It shows yearly differences in the areas I’ve looked at. It’s well worth it when you have one taken down to the frame and stripped down the body.
