Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Got my PCm back from Zippy Performance yesterday. Got it put back in and seems everything works correctly. I need to verify the speedo calibration, but seemed/felt close...

It's been raining here for what seems like a couple of weeks. Saturday should be OK, but I will be at my daughter's Gym competion, so the truck will just sit....

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Michael King at Zippy Performance in Las Vagas, NV, (702) 406-0333

http://www.zippyperformance.org/performance.html

I called him and told him what I needed, boxed up the PCM with a note of the things Ineeded done and my contact info. He charged $200 for the first time I sent it out to him and that included the shipping back. The fix he just did was $60 including the return shipping. Some times he is hard to get a hold of, but he has always called me back.

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Friday night I took the truck out to take Owen to Baseball practice. Its was still raining so their practice was indoors at the high schools indoor practice area. While I was out, I snapped a few pics of White Trash.

I think the stance came out OK. Here is a straight on shot of the side:

There is still a few quirks I need to work out before this can be a daily driver. It needs a new windsheild, the wipers are REALLY slow, the signal indicators are on when you turn on the headlights but the blinkers do work. The front running lights are both out, but I never changed the bulbs so that could be a simple fix. The interior is still real dirty and it needs something on the floor because it is kinda load inside. I used the floor shifter from Sunburn, but for this truck, I am going to get the column shifter working.

I did not touch it on Sat or Sun, it was family time and my daughters first Gymnastics competition. She placed 4th in vault and 8th in the all around. But scored enought to move up a level for next season! Super happy for her and what she has accomplished!

He better not forget that I know where he sleeps at night...

It is running and drivable, but the speedo is way off. I talked to my tuner, the pcm is set up correctly for my combination, so I need to dig into it a bit further.

Korbin forgets that I am in no real hurry to get it done. I don't have a shop, I don't like to work in the rain, and I sometime just don't want to work on it. I need to sell something so that I can build my shop, but I don't think I can get much for him, nobody wants a smart ass teenager who thinks he knows everything...

From my understanding..... supply is far greater vs demand for that particular model.

Thanks! For once I am having fun with this build. I only mess with it when I feel like it and post up my progress so others might learn something or get a laugh about it. Not having any real deadline to finish it by has been kinda nice....

I have not done much of anything on it except start cleaning out the doors and interior to get them a bit nicer. I have all the new weather stripping from Sunburn and even the power windows, but I am not sure it I am going to put the windows in or just keep the manual ones. Keeping the manual ones is the easy way out, I would just need to die the panels black. Looks like the weather might be really nice this weekend, so after getting a few house projects done, I might get to spend some time on this heap...

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Well it finally stopped raining here for a whole weekend when I had nothing else planned. Got a few thinks done on this one that I have been putting off.

I got the filler panel between the rear bumper and the bed installed. I used the filler from the Blazer that I got the bumper off of. I used just the two outer Blazer brackets to mount it. I think it works well and looks good.

I also hooked up the column shifter and got rid of the B&M Quick Silver Floor shifter. Just to much of a pain to have it for what this truck is for...

I also started on the interior revamp. I got my ACC carpet kit in from Stockinteriors.com on Friday. I took that door panels off and sanded them with 100 grit with a B&D Mouse sander. It took off all the old dried out plastic and most of the texture. That was all I did before shooting them with HF truck bed coating. It left a satin/flat finish with a fine texture. not perfect or show quality, but very nice for a daily driver called White Trash . I see if I can get a picture of what it looks like up close....

I also pulled out the blue vent trim kick panels and cleaned them up. I used some Krylon Fusion Satin Black (the paint for plastic that they sell) on them and reinstalled them. They look good. Sorry no before and after pictures...

I did not install the carpet, noticed a leak in the windshield and decided to hold off on the carpet till I get the windshield replaced. Should be sunny the next couple of days, so I hope I can get that done tomorrow.

Here is the before for the whole interior from when I bought it home:

Here it is without the seat and carpet...

I hope to have the interior dome this upcoming weekend. I'll get pictures as I go this next time I work on it.

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Pulled out the broken windshield yesterday evening. Found the area of the leak at the bottom of the driver's side.

Wire brushed the area inside and out and treated with rust convertor. Looked good this morning before I left for work. Not major rust, but enough to cause the leak and was able to fix it before new glass goes in today.

Also, I pulled out the rest of the interior parts & pieces. Ready to wire wheel the floor and clean the painted surfaces before putting it all back together.

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Well got a few more things done on the truck the last couple of days.

Tuesday, I got the new windshield installed. They forgot the mount for the rear view mirror, but that is minor right now. When I got home from work, I got after the floor with my grinder and wire cup brush. its not perfectly clean, but it is good enough for my intensions at this time.

There was a few spots of surface rust, so I treated them to some rust convertor. Should be good enough for now.

Wednesday after work, I put down some sound deadening material on the large flat areas. I read you only need about 25% coverage to be effective so that is why the complete floor is not covered. I have 6 pieces that are 6" x 11" that are going on the back cab wall in the centers of the raised areas. I will have to do that after I clean the cab wall and headliner area with degreaser. It's kinda dirty... I also put a 6" x 12" piece on the inside of the doors. I may add another to the doors, I am going to finish the door weather stripping first to see how the door sounds when you shut it. Here is what the floor looks like now:

Looks like its going to rain again today and tomorrow. Maybe I can finish the interior this weekend after I do the yard work...

Sorry, no, I never used to sell any thing like this. It is actually Peel & Seal that I got at the local Lowe's store.

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Got home from Owen's game last night and had a bit of time to spend on this truck. Got the interior sheet metal washed down and cleaned up. Looks way better.

In this pic, you can see the difference that one swipe of the sponge and degreaser did on the left compared to the right...

I had to meet someone at the house at lunch today, so while I was waiting, I got the Peel & Seal applied to the back wall of the cab. I will be ready to work on the carpet or doors tonight....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

No, Scoti did not find a seat yet. It is for Korbin's CC not this one...The week before He bought it, I scrapped out a seat frame that the bottom was good. That is just our luck...

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Worked on the interior more. Here is my in process lower door panels.
I just used some 1/8" thick plywood from a shipping box I got from work. The piece was just the right size to make the panel for both doors.

First I made a pattern for the passenger door from some tape and heavy paper:

I cut out the panels and labeled them to know which side is what and what end goes to the front...Then I covered them with some black carpet. I used some 3M heavy duty spray adhesive that I got at Lowe's.

They turned out good and I will attach them with some small black screws that will "hide" in the carpet well.

Re: 2 for 1 Part II...

Next up on the items to fix for the interior was the insert for the dash. I had about 6 or 7 of the posts on the back that had broken off. I decided to use some 10-32 machine screws as the replacements. I took a small sander and sanded down the spots of the broken pins to give me a flat spot for the head of the screw to sit. I used some Loctite quick setting epoxy to attach the screws to the back of the insert.

I only had one that was a little off of location, so I just drilled the hole in the pad a bit oversize to get it to line up. Overall I am happy with the results. I was able to use a flat washer and a nut on the back side and was able to tighten each one and none of them came loose.
