Re: Vitamin C Version 2.0

This will be a 12-hr round trip when I get home. Some would call that crazy but I love it. And this one will be well worth it. It’s all original paint and about the most “rust free” I have ever seen.

Great looking truck!
Last time I loaded a truck that way(tail-heavy) it almost killed my Dad and I when it started waging out of control. I was lucky to not have wadded it up. Safe travels.

I bet. I loaded backwards because I had the drivetrain in the bed.

Re: Vitamin C Version 2.0

My brother was having towing trouble with tongue weight once so, being 19 and no smarter than he was, I suggested he load it backwards.

It was to tail-snappy it almost pulled him into the ditch and killed him!

Depends where the weight was, of course, and you had a spare drivetrain you said.

Check this demo out if you've never seen it, very telling!

Re: Vitamin C Version 2.0

Vitamin C, Roadrunner.
Even Dodge didn't get to use that color name.
Dodge had the same K2 paint code, but called it Go Mango. Plymouth had other oranges such as Omaha Orange and Hemi Orange and shared those codes, but only the Roadrunner had Vitamin C.
67-72 Chevy trucks had several Orange colors, but Vitamin C wasn't one of them.
Bought this one a month after getting back from Nam. That was my little sisters '57.

Re: Vitamin C Version 2.0

Rest assured, all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and best practices were followed (in addition to a little common sense).

This truck spent it's whole life between Death Valley and Mojave.

72k original miles.

It has certainly been used as a truck, and has a few dings and dents. But WOW it's bone dry. No pitting at all on any of the trim pieces.

Yeah, I plan on doing a "refresh" like I did with this one (reference to the thread name). Not quite sure what I'm gonna do with drivetrain yet though. I have the original 350/350. Might take it in for an inspection and go from there.

That's a beautiful car. I wasn't alive in the 70's but orange screams 70's to me. The original owner of this truck bought it new in 1971 when he returned from a vietnam. The key chain says "71 Orange Bomb".

Re: Vitamin C Version 2.0

Omaha Orange was also a GM color, but in '68 it was just "RPO 516 Orange''.
My interior trim was almost the same [but with an SM465 manual trans]. Same Fawn color on the wheel and steering column, and door panels. Silver gray bench seat, dashpad, and visors. Black rubber floor mat.
I even have the same kind of EGA Marine decal, but on the center of my rear step bumper.
Semper Fi.

Re: Vitamin C Version 2.0

Did you actually buy it in Ridgecrest??? (How did that one go unnoticed for the 10 years I lived there?? Great place btw, a few members from there also).
I see it was originally purchased in Ridgecrest - I bought my 2001 new at Bud Eyre!
