Tornado Damaged Cars

I live outside of Birmingham Al, and am close to where the tornadoes came through a few days ago. A few people got together Saturday and went out to help clean up and help how ever we could. The damage is, well you really cant explain it. Even though the damage to people homes and lives were beyond belief so were the destruction to some of the classic cars in the area. I saw a couple, one was a model a conve3rtible truck and the other was a Chevrolet custom here are a couple pictures.

Re: Tornado Damaged Cars

Considering the houses are not standing, yet that car is, I would say that is a testament to their build quality, and worth rebuilding.

Re: Tornado Damaged Cars

I would say it was fixable until I saw the roof. It definitely is a donor car now. The roof is V shaped

Re: Tornado Damaged Cars

In another thread I posted pics of a 66 C10 stepper. We (a crew of about 15 guys) cut for over an hour to get all the trees off the elderly owner's carport so he could pull it out of there. The bed got smashed by a huge tree. That was in Cleveland, TN. I just got back from Tuscaloosa, and although I didn't get pics, I saw a 64 Impala SS that had been parked in a garage on the side of a house. The house and garage were both gone, and the Impala, which looked like either a restoration or a nice survivor, had taken a pretty good beating.

The whole situation is pretty unreal. So many people lost so much. I was in a tent one afternoon giving out supplies (water, food, cleanup supplies, toiletries, diapers, etc.) to victims. They had to fill out some simple paperwork: name, address, phone...the last question was basically "what do you need?" So many people looked at the paper, blinked, then looked up at me and said "I need everything." And most of those people felt blessed just to be alive.
