Ambulance seen near Willmar, MN

Just thought I'd pass along an odd find. I spotted about a 1970 ambulance for sale in someones yard, just south of Willmar, MN on Hwy 71. I did not stop to take a closer look, but for anybody interested, details wont really matter that much.

I have looked at that ambulance in Willmar. It is very rough. There aren't any good body panels on it anymore. Just been sitting around for too long. Inside there was a for sale sign that had a $5000 price tag on it at one time. It has been there for at least 3 years that I have known about it.

Is that rescue suburban in the Ada-Borup area? I see Borup Rescue on it.

Dang! I just saw that today (Saturday), as I was heading up to Windy Hill Auto Parts. The ambulance is located a little bit south of 60 th St/Ave & Hwy 71, if I recall correctly.

If you figure on going to Windy Hill, forget it. It has been about 6 years since I've been there and the yard sold and they crushed and hauled just about everything out of there. Just a lot of bare land and fond memories. They had about 4 of our trucks on like 110 bare acres. The new owner is crazy in price. D29 West Coast Jr Mirrros (Painted, and needs paint) -- $20.00 ea if you take them off. Offered $20 for the pair he wasn't interested. Starter for 350 engine $35.00. Forget it. Bah.

I feel lucky to have visited this yard when it was in it's hey day. I'll never go back.

Roger 0080- I know what you mean about Windy Hill- it's definatly not the yard it used to be! You could spend a solid day and not see it all but not now.

anyone ever get up near Big Stone-Ortonville? back in '90 when I lived near there I remember a yard with nothing but Chevys & you could barely walk between them.

Bringing this thread back from the dead to find out if anyone here knows what happened to this rig?

It's a "Crash Wagon" model built by the Stoner Ambulance Mfg. Company in Southern California and they would be a pretty rare find today. I just picked up a GMC Suburban version of one of these this past September:

Any leads are greatly appreciated!

Not a Stoner but from the shape of the roof cap I can tell this is a Sentinel model built by the Wayne Corp. Be nice to see more pics of it though!

Re: Ambulance seen near Willmar, MN

Reprising this thread again to find out if anyone here knows what happened to this rig? I need a few rare parts from it's ambulance DNA and if it's just sitting junked somewhere I could really use some help getting it located.

Thanks for any help - if it still exists I know someone out there has seen it!
