Should it be welded?
I am replacing my floor pans and rocker boxes. I noticed the connection between the underfloor brace and the firewall brace is not welded on either side. Is there a reason this area is left to "float" or is it supposed to be welded? This is in front of the front floor body mount.

When I redid my 1972 Jimmy. Those two pieces showed signs of five or six factory spot welds. The passenger side of mine, all six spot welds were broken and I had to plug weld them back together. After doing this it really made the fire wall alot more ridge.

my spot-welds were broke off on mine as well

I need to check mine now! Anything to stiffen up the tub is a plus in my book.
