ac oil question

I replaced everything on the ac and put in 8oz of pag oil in the AC system and had it filled at a shop and it cools really cold air.

Then it started a couple of days later and a little warmer outside to make a shuddering noise and did not cool. After a while it stopped shuddering and was really cold again.

Is this because there is not enough oil in the compressor because I read it was to have 11 oz of oil. If so, can oil be added without the system being opened again? Or what other problem could this be? 2002 Tahoe

Re: ac oil question

If you have rear air the spec is 11oz.

Did you flush all the old oil out?
Change the dryer?
Was there oil in your new compressor?

Your symtoms sound like too much oil....

Re: ac oil question

Yes I had the shop flush all the old oil out?

I change the dryer? There was no oil in the compressor.

I put in 8oz and took it to the shop. They pulled a vacuum and filled it but did not say anything about oil. I guess I need to talk to them and see if they added oil??

Re: ac oil question

I did not take rear unit apart. It was not working before but does now.

The blower worked and the temperature worked because I could get heat but not cool. Now when the ac is cool the rear is also.
