Re: New 07.5 Duramax

Those are so sweeet. I want one bad but cant bring myself to trade in the Silverado thats almost paid for yet. I wish they would throw a Duramax in a suburban. What kind of mileage is it getting?

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

I don't have a Duramax, but I have a 08 Dodge 6.7 Cummins Diesel and it's already at the Dodge doctor cause of the engine check light and the DPF crap they put on it. Also the catalyct converter came out to be bad. What a disgrace. I Should've gotten the old 5.9 Cummins engine. At least they don't have all that epa/dpf crap.

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

The Gm is the best of the new diesels but they all have issues with the new emission crap! What's gonna happen when its in regen mode and the convertor is 1350 degrees and you have a blow out! Wait on triple A in the middle of the rd or burn it down!

I just bought an 02 Duramax crew slt 4wd. It still has almost a full year of warranty left on the fuel system and it got 8 new injectors 5k ago.

Hopefully everything gets fixed with yours.
It is a quiet engine normally, but it is quieter at the dealer right now. I think they should just remove all that emissions stuff out. I don't think is never gonna work out. Diesel fuel is just too dirty for these filters. It's gonna keep clogging too much if they don't find better alternatives.

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

I personally wouldn't get one with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), just because I love the black smoke. But it is a nice truck!

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

My dad has one of the new Cummins and loves it, he is getting about the same mileage as the Duramax it seems. I'm gonna keep dreaming and wait till the emissions stuff gets worked out and then bite the bullet and get one.

Are you using Bio Diesel or regular diesel? Just wondering because I've heard horror stories about bio. Lane county(Eugene,Ore) stopped using it because of the filter & injector problems they were having with their buses.

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

I can't wait till I get my 'Max! Oh and for the record the new emission stuff is reaking total K-os throught the Transit Industry. We have the Cummins guy at our shop so much, he has his own key! jk. Anyway the engine it self is a good engine, (ISL) but the DPFE programing and the HIGH EXHAUST TEMP alarms and oh the VD turbo are ALWAYS giving us fits. And you know as soon as we get the bugs worked out it'll be 2010 and A-HOLE new set of standards will come out! Yippee! And for us Transit guys that means UREA! For those of you who don't know about UREA, its mostly derived from COW p!$$. YE HAW! But Cummins claims that, even in California, the air going in will be dirttier then the air coming out! we'll see.

Im using the ULSD(Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel), which those engines require to use. According to the owner's manual.

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

That thing is killer!

Did you end up having to put a leveling kit on it?

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

yes it has torsion keys right now. I am looking at putting a 4" lift on it for a little more clearance.

Re: New 07.5 Duramax

So I take it the NNBS HD's actually use keys? I'm guessing the HD's suspension is completely different from the basic 1500 trucks, as they don't use keys, you can only use a top mounted, or bottom mounted spacer.

Again great looking truck!
