The homestead looks different
I walked the tree line to the back of my property. My camping spot is covered in this white stuff. We haven’t had this much snow in the 4 years we’ve been here. Easy to see where the wildlife come and go.
They plowed the road out front and about took our mailbox out. |

Re: The homestead looks different
I love the look and I love the quiet a fresh snowfall brings. But I really hate snow and cold. We have a lot of mountains in this state so there are tons of winter activities to do here ... I stay inside =) Luckily we don't get big snowfalls too often at my level.

Re: The homestead looks different
We don't get many snows down here so when we do I enjoy it for about the first few hours then I'm ready for it to be gone. I do like the quietness that snow brings though.

We just got 4 1/2" here. The first time I've had to plow or shovel this winter. I didn't stay out long enough to take pictures though.... LockDoc

Nice view, but I must say I do not miss dealing with it. The world pretty much ends down here if we saw that much!

Re: The homestead looks different
We got 13+ inches. Haven't seen the final tally. My mailbox did get taken out. Good thing it's Rubbermaid. I just snap it back on. I don't mind some white stuff, myself. Of course it was 60 degrees a couple weeks ago. Don't mind that either.

Re: The homestead looks different
Beautiful homestead! I like snow more than rain. It doesn't keep me from doing much of anything but climb up on roofs and such. What I hate is the salt and chemicals that eat away on your second biggest investment you own. I remember as a child, before they implemented the clear roads policy in the '60s, they'd plow, drop sand on hills (leave barrels too), spread cinders, people used chains, studded 'snow tires' (remember them), , just stay home... or learned how to drive in it! It doesn't stop me from going anywhere. Around here, if you don't want to drive in snow, probably could stay home 6 days a year and miss it. I work in it and it's really no big deal. They make clothes for cold weather. You can be too hot sitting naked in the shade some days in summer (someone told me )

Re: The homestead looks different
I like the snow more than the rain also. But no matter if it snows or rains I keep an extra dry pair of shoes for working in my customer’s house.
My stepson got stuck in our driveway the other day. He is almost 18, he bought a 1979 Thunderbird last spring when he went to a car show with his papa. Saved up enough to pay cash and have a little left over. I told him some sandbags would help with traction. Made me think about chains. |

Re: The homestead looks different
Sandbags are the perfect thing for adding weight for better traction. Doesn't move around and if you get stuck you have it to throw down to get a bite.
