Air/Heater control

I've learned here that a 3 lever control was for the deluxe heater. My 63 Burb has a 4 lever plate. What was the 4th lever for?

Mine;

Re: Air/Heater control

The '60-'63's with the deluxe heater had 4 levers. The '64-'66's only had 3 levers. If I remember correctly the 4th lever on the '60-'63's is for the shutoff valve for the coolant flow.

Re: Air/Heater control

I'm going to install a Vintage Air ac/heat unit and the replacement panel has 3 levers. I sure didn't have an idea what the 4th was for. Thanks guys

Re: Air/Heater control

Nothing, the Vintage Air for 60-63 only has 3 levers and fits where the OEM 4 lever goes. On my truck there are 4 slots but I believe only 2 have levers. I've seen this on other trucks from this vintage.

ETA, I reread your post. What am I going to do with the OEM 4 lever switch? Put it up for sale here.

lol ..just a stupid question does anyone know what the positions are??meaning when you move the levers up or down ,is there a middle or mixing of the air or heat like floor or vent or defrost ?
