14 bolt full floater to a '81 k20

Anyone know if the Second design 14 bolt ('89 and up)SRW/FF will have the same axle perches and spacing as a '81 k20

Im looking for a 14 bolt ff with slide off drums (you dont have to remove hub nuts and hub to pull the brake drum)

From 14 bolt bible:
Quote:
Second design SRW axles in 1-ton pickup trucks and 3/4 ton Suburbans changed to allow for a slide-off drum

Perch spacing is different, but should work once repositioned.

If it has slide off drums, that is a semi-float axle. Still strong unless you have a hard core heavy foot. And spacing is different, but relocating isn't hard

Apparently '89 and later full floaters have slide off drums too.

My '99 Dodge CTD dana 70 has slide off drums also

You could look for a dana 60 from a early GMC. Mine has slide off drums in my 1970. The spring perches would be the same.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

This is wrong. It's true that the older ones had press drums, and semi floaters had slip off. But I have one from a van that is a full float and slip drums. Not sure the rhyme or reason why some got pressed and some slip. I had one from a 93 slip, and one that was in my 97 that was pressed. Not always a brake thing either...

Same here. I had both ways with drums on 14-bolt full-floaters. One was a '92 and the other was a '95. I think it was the '95 that was press-on.
