205 indicator light switch

I need some help finding a part!
The switch on top of 205 that tells dash light its in 4wd needs replacing, but I can't seem to find one.
On NAPA & other chain parts store websites it comes up the ball-end style switch; I need the plunger style end.
After lots of web search I figured this much out...Old GM# was 14024304 which was discontinued & now #15594176. Some older post (like from '06 & back) on other forums folks seem to have used a Niehoff #DR130T or CarQuest EC TCA3, but none of these #s come up good either.
Only place I have found them is Quad 4x4 for $122-165, but I'm NOT paying that for a light switch; these others folks have given $16-25 for.
From 1980-82 it had the spade terminals & to '87 had the other connector, either one will work.
Anybody go a source?

Re: 205 indicator light switch

Can you just put one of these in any 205 and it will work?

Re: 205 indicator light switch

I'm not real sure, but don't think so...something about the shift rail shape being different in older (pre'80?) 205s & won't push the switch in.

So nobody else has need to replace this switch???

Re: 205 indicator light switch

I just replaced mine, found it here. A little pricy, but hey not a lot of other options! They shipped quick, no worries.

You have to scroll down quite a way.

I just reread your post, I see you found this one as well. That said, it was the only source I came across.

Re: 205 indicator light switch

All GM 205 shift rails are the same. The detent ball will compress the spring and touch the sensor and light up the dash light.
