Different colors for stock wheels and hub caps

So, I am trying out tan on my wheels and hub caps. I did a quick rattle can spray of each and am trying to decide how I feel about it.

I think the color goes ok with the "light red" (though my family insists on calling it orange!) of the truck.

Has anyone else tried different colors? I'd love to see pics of them.

I think they look pretty good. What is the color of your interior?

Also on you spid what is your paint code?

Thanks,
Nick

Red or Orange? My wife insists on calling my truck the "Pumpkin" and has got my children and neighbors using that term as well when discussing what I refer to as the Hot Rod or Hugger Orange truck in the garage.

That said, while I do like the tan wheels, I suggest that as long as you're experimenting, go two tone. Paint those caps red/orange!!

The interior is the same color except not so faded and scratched up! The paint code is 514 "Light Red."

Unfortunately, my family figured out it annoys me when they call it orange so now they do it all the time - so much so that I've caught myself doing it! grrrr

I like it. I thought about taking the 6 little nubs off the outer circle or adding to the nubs so they go almost to the edge.

Thank you. That is the color of my interior as well and in different pictures the color looks more red than others. I'm looking for the correct color radio delete place and wanted to make sure I got the right red color.

Good luck with the wheels. I think the tan looks good but maybe a while hubcap would look even better.

Re: Different colors for stock wheels and hub caps

Here are some other options with some of the hubcaps I have laying around. Sorry for the sideways pictures!

I think I actually like the one with the yellow bowtie the best. I think its from a mid-70s truck.

Re: Different colors for stock wheels and hub caps

I like the yellow bowtie caps too, but only when they are on the correct year truck. For some reason, to me it never looks right or good when caps are put on a different generation truck. As for the color, I do like it, but again I think stock colors look best. I think for me it comes down to what I'm used to seeing, and since most are stock colors, that's what I like and anything else looks off. That's just my opinion though.

Re: Different colors for stock wheels and hub caps

The wheels painted a different color can look good. It's not that it doesn't look good with the hubcap paintd, but to me that gives it a commercial fleet look. Like what a bread company would have done on their StepVans back when brand paint schemes mattered. Nothing wrong with that if that's the look you want. I guess there is personalized and there is over personalized. You can put yourself a little far out there with some idea while others have people thinking what a nice touch that is.
I've matched body color, done black, red, silver, but always with chrome hubcaps or none

I totally see that! Now I definitely need to find a different color for the hub caps!

I actually like the wheels without the caps pretty good. I might try and see what a rally cap would look like on stock wheels. I'd need to drill some holes but it'd be doable.
